Lucca's wines

In the province of Lucca, in addition to a variety of Tuscan IGTs, are produced two DOC wines: Colline Lucchesi and Montecarlo, both white and red.

In both cases, the red wines have a ruby red colour, an intense aroma (especially   the Colline Lucchesi ones) and a dry flavour; the white wines, on the other hand, have a straw-yellow color between white and yellow, a fine smell and a delicate flavour.

The basic grape varieties, are Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo for the red Colline Lucchesi and Tuscan Trebbiano, Greco, Grechetto, white Vermentino and/or Malvasia del Chianti for the white. The red Montecarlo requires black Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, black Malvasia and Syrah, while for the white Tuscan Trebbiano, Semillon, Pinot gris and white, Fermentino Sauvignon and Roussanne.
