On April 23, 1668, the “Accademia degli Indifferenti” was established in Barga, thanks to the work of some representatives of the most prominent families in town. The name was changed a few years later to “Accademia dei Differenti”. The goal was to increase the passion for theatre and culture in general. It was the beginning of the institution which today we call “Teatro dei Differenti".
