On the slopes of Mount Aquilata, in a beautiful panoramic position overlooking Lake Massaciuccoli, are the rests of a Roman Villa built in the I century a.D.; in particular you can see the impressive ruins of the thermal baths ("Terme"). At the foot of the complex, along via Pietra Padule, a small archaeological site (the so called "Villa") can be seen: here are the remains of rooms belonging to a stage post along the ancient Roman road coasting the lake shore.
Since July 2007, the finds are exhibited in the Pavillion Guglielmo Lera, built on the remains of the complex of via Pietra a Padule.
